Description
This is a tough to find BU alternate jersey of NHL’er Brandon Yip, from his Freshman season at BU! This jersey acquired from long time collegiate/BU collector Kurt Zwald, and he purchased the jersey directly from Boston University. No team LOA, but Kurt included a personal LOA that describes the history of this particular set of jerseys.  Jersey is size 54, and has moderate wear, including one repair. Jersey has had a nameplate change.
Kurt’s LOA states the following:  “This letter verifies that the Brandon Yip, #18 Boston University road alternate jersey is an authentic game worn jersey, used by Yip in the 2005-06 season. The jersey is a Reebok airknit, size 54, with a screened Custom Crafted neck tag. Custom Crafted fabricated these jerseys for use in the 2004-05 season, when BU first introduced their road alternate style. The jersey was originally worn by senior Matt Radoslovich in the 2004-05 season, and was recycled into 2005-06 to be worn by Brandon Yip in his freshman year. You can see a faint outline of the Radoslovich nameplate around the smaller Yip nameplate.  For context, in 2005-06, BU introduced a home alternate style to complement the road alternates. Those jerseys were also fabricated by Custom Crafted in the same manner as the road alternates. Given the limited usage of the road alternates in 04-05, as well as the new home alternate set that was ordered for 05-06, the team opted to simply recycle the road alternates into 05-06 versus purchasing an entirely new set. Beginning in 2006-07, BU switched to Nike airknit jerseys for all four of their styles (home, road, home alternate, road alternate). The jersey was obtained from a prominent college hockey jersey collector who purchased the jersey directly from the school following the 05-06 season. I purchased the jersey from that collector immediately after he obtained it from the school, and have been the only owner until the jersey was sold to you.  As a collector of NCAA jerseys for over a decade, I verify this jersey to be 100% authentic and game worn by Brandon Yip during his freshman season at BU.”
This is a great example of a BU alternate, and a Freshman’s season jersey of a solid NHL player.
